According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on the eastbound side of the 80 Freeway near Crystal Springs Road on September 24. The accident involved two motorcycles and a passenger vehicle traveling through an active construction area.
One of the riders, 78-year-old Leonidas Castro, was ejected from his motorcycle during the crash. Authorities say his bike veered off the roadway following the impact. Tragically, Castro died at the scene.
