Palmdale, CA. (October 2, 2025) – A 21-year-old man from Albuquerque, New Mexico, was killed after being struck by a bus on the Antelope Valley Freeway early Saturday morning. Authorities have identified the victim as Danny Montoya.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 4:35 a.m. on September 27 on the northbound side of State Route 14, just south of Palmdale Boulevard. Prior to the crash, Montoya had reportedly been driving a 2020 Tesla Model 3 when he was involved in an accident. He exited his vehicle and was standing in the far-right lane when he was struck by a 2008 MCI J-Series Motorcoach.
Montoya was pronounced deceased at the scene. The bus driver, a 58-year-old man from Panorama City, remained on site. Authorities have not confirmed whether the other driver involved in the initial collision stayed at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
