Laredo, TX (October 3, 2025) – A man was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle early Thursday morning in North Laredo.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the pedestrian accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on October 2 at the intersection of Riverbank Drive and Logistics Street. Authorities say 55-year-old Juan Manuel Garcia was speaking with another truck driver in the street when he attempted to cross outside of a marked crosswalk.
While crossing, Garcia was struck by a southbound gray Mazda 3, driven by 18-year-old Luis Rodriguez. The driver remained at the scene, cooperated fully with police, and showed no signs of intoxication, officials said.
Garcia was initially transported to a local hospital but was later airlifted to a San Antonio facility due to the severity of his injuries. The crash remains under active investigation.
