Garland, TX (October 11, 2025) – A tragic collision involving a police officer claimed the life of a man early Friday morning in Garland, according to the Garland Police Department.
The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. on October 10, shortly after a Garland officer left the police station on Forest Lane. Authorities said the officer was traveling eastbound on West State Street when he struck a disabled truck stopped in the middle of the intersection at McKinley Street. The truck reportedly had no lights on at the time, and it was still dark outside.
Standing in front of the stalled vehicle was 32-year-old Juan Pablo Rio Aguilar of Garland, who was attempting to connect jumper cables when he was struck. Aguilar was transported to a hospital, where he later died due to cardiac arrest from massive blood loss.
