Presidio County, TX (October 14, 2025) – A deadly head-on crash claimed the lives of two Pecos residents, Refjujio Castillo and Juan Jose Rodriguez, and injured three others on the afternoon of October 3.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 4:20 p.m. on United States Highway 67, approximately 12 miles north of Presidio. A Chevrolet Avalanche headed southbound veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a GMC Sierra pickup.
Refjujio Castillo, 59, who was driving the Chevrolet, and passenger Juan Rodriguez, 82, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional passengers in the Avalanche were hospitalized in stable condition at a facility in the Big Bend region. The GMC driver, a woman whose name has not yet been released, was airlifted to an Odessa hospital in critical condition.
Texas DPS is continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
