San Diego, CA (October 24, 2025) – A devastating head-on crash in Spring Valley claimed the life of 50-year-old Miriam Nelly Valles and left several others injured Saturday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash took place around 8:54 p.m. on October 18 along Jamacha Road near Darby Street. A 48-year-old man from Spring Valley was driving a Toyota Camry eastbound when he crossed over the center divider and slammed head-on into a Nissan Rogue carrying three people.
Valles, a resident of El Cajon and a passenger in the Nissan SUV, was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital but was tragically pronounced dead just after 10:30 p.m.
At least two people had to be extricated from the wreckage. A child riding in the Camry was taken to Rady’s Children’s Hospital as a precaution.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
