Tampa, FL. (November 9, 2025) – A devastating crash in Tampa’s Ybor City district claimed the lives of four people and left eleven others injured after a speeding vehicle crashed into a local business and struck several pedestrians.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on November 8 near the intersection of North 15th Street and East 7th Avenue. Authorities say 22-year-old Silas Sampson was driving recklessly on Interstate 275 and exited at high speed while fleeing law enforcement.

Despite efforts by police to stop the vehicle using a PIT maneuver, Sampson continued speeding until crashing into a business in the heart of the Ybor City nightlife district. The vehicle struck multiple pedestrians and bystanders.

Three victims died at the scene, while a fourth died at the hospital. One person remains in critical condition. Eight others are being treated for injuries at area hospitals, and two more were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Sampson was detained at the scene.
