Maries County, MO (May 13, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a utility task vehicle (UTV) claimed the life of one man and left a woman seriously injured on the evening of May 12 in rural Maries County.
According to reports, the crash occurred at approximately 7:21 p.m. in the 17000 block of County Road 522, when a 2021 Can-Am Defender UTV veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The impact partially ejected both occupants from the vehicle.
A 61-year-old male passenger from Rolla was pronounced dead at the scene by Maries County Coroner David Martin at 8:25 p.m. A 61-year-old female, also of Rolla, who was driving the UTV, sustained serious injuries and was transported by EMS to Phelps Health in Rolla for treatment.
Neither occupant was reportedly wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. The UTV was towed from the scene.
