Cameron, NC (May 13, 2025) – A deadly crash shut down North Carolina Highway 24/27 at Lizzie Jeter Lane on the afternoon of May 10, when a Toyota Camry veered off the road and struck a parked dump truck in Harnett County.

According to reports, the incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. near the Sand Pits in Cameron, close to the Moore County line. The Camry, traveling eastbound, left the roadway and collided with a dump truck parked in a yard. Bystanders were able to remove the driver—a 51-year-old man—from the vehicle before it caught fire. Despite rescue attempts, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle.
