Mecca, CA (November 26, 2025) – A local woman lost her life early Monday morning in a crash involving a pickup truck and a farm tractor in Mecca.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on November 25 along 70th Avenue, west of Garfield Street. The victim, 58-year-old Maria Moreno De Hernandez of Mecca, was driving a Ford Ranger westbound when her vehicle struck the back of a flatbed trailer being hauled by a Kubota tractor.
Moreno De Hernandez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the tractor, a 21-year-old man from Mecca, was not injured in the incident.
Authorities confirmed that alcohol or drugs were not suspected factors in the crash. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
