Ohio County, IN (November 27, 2025) – A Monday evening crash involving a passenger vehicle and a combine harvester in rural Ohio County tragically claimed one life.
According to the Indiana State Police, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on November 25 along Milton Bear Branch Road. Authorities say Vernon Smith of Cincinnati was driving a passenger car when his vehicle collided with the front tire of a combine operated by Tim Colen of Switzerland County. The two were traveling in opposite directions at the time of the crash.
Smith was critically injured and transported to UC Hospital in Cincinnati, where he later died from his injuries. Colen was not injured in the incident.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office and state authorities continue to investigate the fatal collision to determine the full circumstances.
