El Dorado County, CA (November 29, 2025) – An 18-year-old man was killed and four others were injured in a two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a travel trailer Sunday evening on Highway 50, according to the California Highway Patrol and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the California Highway Patrol , the crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. on November 23, 2025, at Highway 50 and Sierra Pines Road, just east of Camp Sacramento. Sergio Gutierrez Garcia of Woodland was riding in the front passenger seat of an eastbound Jeep Compass when the vehicle was struck head-on by a trailer that crossed into their lane.
Authorities say a 32-year-old Lathrop man was driving a Ford F-250 westbound while towing a 32-foot fifth-wheel trailer. The driver lost control, causing the trailer to veer into oncoming traffic and collide with the Jeep.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. The 37-year-old woman driving the Jeep and a 6-year-old child sustained minor injuries. A 13-year-old boy was moderately hurt, and a 16-year-old suffered major injuries and was hospitalized.
The South Lake Tahoe CHP Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
