Turin, NY (May 14, 2025) – According to reports, a 49-year-old man lost his life in a fatal truck accident Monday afternoon in the Town of Turin.
The crash occurred May 12, when a 1988 Ford dump truck, operated by David Kantor, was traveling eastbound on Lyman Road. Authorities from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said Kantor failed to safely navigate a right-hand curve, causing the truck to veer off course. The vehicle then struck a parked trailer and an excavator on Gomer Hill Road.
Emergency personnel transported Kantor to a nearby landing zone, where he was subsequently airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University. Tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
