A 2015 Ford F-150, driven by 58-year-old Jerri Linn Francis of Chanute, was traveling southbound when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound 2019 GMC Sierra driven by 19-year-old Charles Edward Rogers II of Iola.

Francis was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Countryside mortuary. Rogers sustained serious injuries and was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. Both drivers were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
