Tucson, AZ (May 27, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash late Sunday night, May 25, near the intersection of Valencia Road and Camino Verde in Pima County.
According to reports, deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene shortly after 10 p.m. and discovered the pedestrian deceased in the roadway. Authorities say the victim was in the road when they were hit by a vehicle driven by 48-year-old Martin Valenzuela Lopez.
Lopez did not remain at the crash site, allegedly continuing down the road before calling 911. Detectives also believe a second vehicle may have been involved in striking the pedestrian.
Lopez has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence and failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving death. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond as investigations continue into the deadly incident.
