According to reports, the deadly crash occurred at 11:55 p.m. at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Avenue U, near Kings Plaza. Authorities say Engine 309, a New York Fire Department truck, was traveling southbound on Flatbush Avenue with lights and sirens activated en route to a fire call when it collided with a motorcycle heading west on Avenue U.
The rider, identified as 30-year-old Valentin Ivancsuk, was critically injured in the crash and later pronounced dead at Brookdale University Hospital. Firefighters onboard the responding truck were evaluated at the scene but did not report serious injuries.
