Escambia County, FL (December 12, 2025) — A Pensacola man lost his life and a woman remains in critical condition after a devastating crash involving a sedan and a semi-truck Thursday afternoon in Escambia County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. on December 11 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and Aileron Avenue. A 41-year-old man was driving a Toyota Corolla when he attempted to turn left onto U.S. 98 and was struck by an oncoming eastbound tractor-trailer.
The impact occurred on the driver’s side of the Corolla, pushing both vehicles approximately one block east, near Erin Drive. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the car was critically injured and airlifted to a nearby trauma center for emergency treatment.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 33-year-old man from Macon, Georgia, was not hurt in the incident. The crash closed U.S. 98 between Aileron Drive and Skylark Drive for over three hours while Florida Highway Patrol traffic homicide investigators documented the scene.
