New Paltz, NY (May 30, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle accident early this week claimed the life of a Mahopac man on Interstate 87 in New Paltz.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 7:43 a.m. on May 27, 2025. Troopers from State Police Highland responded to the northbound lanes of the New York State Thruway near exit 18. Their investigation revealed that a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle experienced a rear tire blowout, causing it to slide and roll in the left lane. The rider, Martin T. Muller, 62, of Mahopac, was ejected and thrown nearly 80 feet from the vehicle.
Emergency crews from New Paltz Rescue EMS provided immediate life-saving efforts at the scene. Muller was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
