Anaheim, CA (December 14, 2025) – A group of high school athletes was injured Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle veered off the roadway and struck them while they waited to cross the street. The incident occurred around 2:55 p.m. on December 11 at the intersection of North Harbor Boulevard and North Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, eight Anaheim High School track team members were standing at the southwest corner of the intersection waiting for the light to change when a Toyota Corolla, driven by 27-year-old Anthony Alva-Palafox, swerved off the road and hit them. Seven of the teens, all between 16 and 17 years old, were hospitalized with injuries. All but one of the students have since been released, and the remaining hospitalized teen is expected to recover.
Alva-Palafox, who was also hospitalized, was later booked on suspicion of DUI involving alcohol and drugs. He has since been released on bail.
