San Diego, CA (December 15, 2025) – A wrong-way driver reportedly under the influence struck two on-duty San Diego Police Department officers Saturday night while they were on foot at a Pacific Beach intersection.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 8:25 p.m. on December 14 at the intersection of Thomas Avenue and Mission Boulevard. The suspect was driving a Honda Civic eastbound in the westbound lanes when the vehicle hit the officers. It is not clear what the officers were doing in the roadway at the time.
One officer was transported to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. The other officer was not injured. Authorities confirmed that the male driver of the Honda was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI. His identity has not yet been made public.
