Philadelphia, PA (December 15, 2025) – A woman was killed and an Uber driver injured after a fleeing suspect crashed into their vehicle during a police pursuit Monday morning in North Philadelphia.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident began shortly after 7:15 a.m. on December 15, when Philadelphia sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve a domestic assault warrant on 35-year-old Joseph Cini at a residence on the 900 block of North Watts Street. Cini fled in a Nissan Maxima, heading east on Girard Avenue.
Roughly 10 minutes later, at the intersection of North Ninth Street and Girard Avenue, Cini’s Maxima collided with a red Jeep operating as an Uber. Inside were a 63-year-old female passenger and a 51-year-old Uber driver. The passenger died at the scene. The driver sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to recover.
Cini fled on foot after the crash and remains at large.
