Cobb County, GA (May 31, 2025) – A serious crash Monday morning on I-285 eastbound near the I-75 merge left one man with significant injuries, and police are now searching for the driver who fled the scene.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 11:19 a.m. when a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Kia, changed lanes and allegedly collided with a white 1996 GMC Safari traveling in the second lane from the left. The impact caused the GMC to lose control and crash into the center median barrier, leaving it facing west in the left lane.
The 57-year-old driver from Austell suffered serious injuries and was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. His 22-year-old passenger, also from Austell, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for further treatment. Authorities have not yet identified the hit-and-run driver or the exact model of the dark sedan involved. The incident remains under active investigation.
