Jackson County, MO (December 19, 2025) – A Jackson County deputy was seriously injured after being struck by a passing vehicle while assisting at a separate crash scene Wednesday evening. The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on December 18 near the intersection of Buckner Tarsney Road and Ryan Road, just south of Interstate 70.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, two deputies were already on scene investigating a previous crash when a southbound vehicle entered the area. One deputy, who was outside his patrol unit, was hit by the approaching vehicle. Emergency responders quickly transported the injured deputy to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene, fully cooperating with law enforcement. Investigators are working to determine what led to the crash, including how fast the vehicle was traveling at the time of impact.
