Kansas City, MO (December 21, 2025) – A deadly early morning crash is under investigation after a wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision that left one person dead and two others seriously injured in Kansas City.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 3:30 a.m. on December 20, 2025, near the intersection of Independence Avenue and Jackson Avenue. Investigators determined that a silver Chevrolet Malibu was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Independence Avenue when it collided head-on with an oncoming silver Ford Taurus.
The Ford’s driver suffered critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was also hospitalized but later pronounced dead. A front-seat passenger in the Malibu remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
