According to the Plainfield Police Department, the crash involved a silver Kia Sportage driven by 19-year-old Cydney Chapman of Plainfield, an Eversource utility truck operated by 40-year-old William Maxeiner of Griswold, and a blue Audi Q5 driven by 20-year-old Elijah Lee of Chaplin.
Chapman had stopped at a flashing red light on Academy Hill Road and proceeded into the intersection, where her Kia was struck by the utility truck traveling northbound on Norwich Road. The impact caused the Kia to collide with the Audi, which was heading south.
All three vehicles sustained disabling damage and had to be towed. Chapman and Lee were transported to Plainfield Backus Emergency Care Center with suspected minor injuries.
