According to reports, the crash occurred just before 9:30 p.m. on May 31 along Rio Linda Boulevard near E Street. Investigators stated that a Scion xB was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Chevrolet Tahoe. A Dodge Ram traveling behind the Chevrolet then struck the Tahoe from the rear.

The driver of the Scion was pronounced dead at the scene. One other individual reported pain and was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
