San Diego, CA (January 1, 2026) – A woman was injured after her vehicle veered off the 905 Freeway and down an embankment in San Diego’s South Bay area on the morning of December 31.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:23 a.m. as the 26-year-old driver was merging onto CA-905. While traveling at highway speed, her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by another car, causing her to lose control. The vehicle careened over the right shoulder, down a 10 to 15-foot embankment, and struck a tree.
Despite the force of the crash, the woman remained conscious and was able to self-extricate from the vehicle before emergency crews arrived.
