Hamilton Township, NJ (January 22, 2026) – A tragic two-vehicle crash claimed the life of an 80-year-old woman Tuesday afternoon in Atlantic County. The accident occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. on January 20 at the intersection of Weymouth Road and Mizpah Road in Hamilton Township.
According to the New Jersey State Police, Janet Wooding of Mays Landing was driving a 1995 BMW 525 northbound on Weymouth Road when she attempted a left turn onto Mizpah Road. Simultaneously, a 2021 Kenworth T3-series truck driven by 58-year-old James Birch of Estell Manor was heading south. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
Wooding suffered traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured. Emergency crews closed the intersection for approximately four hours to investigate and clear the scene.
