Linden, NJ (January 22, 2026) – A tragic industrial accident claimed the life of a 71-year-old man from the Iselin section of Woodbridge on Monday, January 19. The incident occurred at the Bayway Chemical Plant, located near the intersection of Park Avenue and Brunswick Avenue in Linden.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the man, a private subcontractor, was reportedly filling a 6,000-gallon bulk liquid container with mineral oil when he fell inside. Linden police and fire officials responded just before 2 p.m. The man was found deceased inside the container and was removed by crews from both the Bayway and Linden fire departments. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The chemical plant is owned by Infineum, which confirmed the fatality and has launched an internal investigation. OSHA is also conducting an independent review.
