San Luis Obispo, CA (February 3, 2026) — A violent rollover crash along Highway 101 early Friday morning left one person seriously injured and led to a DUI arrest, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:12 a.m. on January 30 on northbound Highway 101, just south of Tassajara Creek Road. Investigators say the driver, identified as Jose Pena, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over multiple times.
A right front passenger was ejected from the vehicle and suffered major injuries. The individual was airlifted to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria for treatment.
CHP confirmed that Pena was driving under the influence and has been arrested on suspicion of DUI. The investigation remains ongoing.
