Albuquerque, NM (April 29, 2026) – A serious car accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist Tuesday night in Southeast Albuquerque following a collision at a busy intersection.
According to the New Mexico State Police , the crash occurred around 8:50 p.m. on April 28 at the intersection of Espanola Street Southeast and Zuni Road Southeast. Officers with the Albuquerque Police Department responded to the scene along with Albuquerque Fire Rescue. Upon arrival, first responders located an adult male motorcyclist with life threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Preliminary findings indicate that a red 1995 Toyota pickup truck was traveling west on Zuni Road Southeast and began turning left onto San Pablo Street Southeast after the traffic light turned green. At the same time, a red 2013 BMW motorcycle traveling east on Zuni Road Southeast collided with the front passenger side of the truck. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle. The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Zuni Road Southeast was closed between Charleston Street Southeast and Chama Street Southeast. San Pablo Street Southeast was also blocked at Zuni Road Southeast between Central Avenue and Grove Street, and Grove Street was closed between Zuni Road Southeast and Bell Avenue during the investigation.
