According to the Oregon State Police , the crash occurred on July 18 as Platt was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Highway 20. Investigators reported that the motorcycle and a Peterbilt semi-truck collided while the truck was making a left turn and the motorcycle was attempting to pass.
Platt was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 70-year-old Yolanda Platt, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The Peterbilt was driven by 24-year-old Victor Pena-Olvera, who was not injured.
