Chilton County, AL (July 23, 2026) – Three people were killed and another person was injured Monday, July 20, in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 near Verbena. The collision occurred shortly after 11 a.m., approximately two miles south of Verbena in Chilton County, and involved a GMC Envoy, a GMC Sierra pickup truck, and a third vehicle damaged by debris.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 65-year-old Valerie Granville of Montgomery was driving the GMC Envoy when it crossed the median and collided head-on with the GMC Sierra. Valerie Granville and two passengers in the Envoy, Vensen Granville, 39, and Willie Gholston, 69, both of Montgomery, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC Sierra suffered injuries and was transported to a Montgomery hospital for further care. Debris from the initial impact also struck and damaged a third vehicle.
