Anderson County, SC (July 23, 2026) – A collision involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of 40-year-old Jose Carmen Joaquin Morales of Marion, North Carolina, on Monday, July 20. The crash occurred around 2:04 p.m. at Milford Road and South Carolina Highway 243 in Anderson County.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol , a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling on Milford Road while a 2018 Peterbilt tractor-trailer was traveling south on South Carolina Highway 243 when the vehicles collided at the intersection.
Authorities said Morales was sitting on the tailgate of the Dodge Ram before the collision and died at the scene. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office ruled his death accidental. Another occupant of the pickup truck and the driver of the tractor-trailer were not injured.
