Blair County, PA (August 5, 2026) – A wrong way crash on Interstate 99 in Blair County early Tuesday claimed the life of a 40-year-old State College man and left a tractor trailer driver with possible injuries.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the collision occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. on August 4 in the southbound lanes of Interstate 99 near mile marker 42.6. Investigators determined that a pickup truck was traveling northbound in the left lane of the southbound side of the interstate when it collided head on with a tractor trailer.
Authorities identified the deceased driver as 40-year-old Joshua Russell Brown of State College. The impact pushed both vehicles approximately 180 feet into the center median. Brown sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead as a result of the crash.
The driver of the tractor trailer reportedly suffered possible injuries. Emergency crews remained at the scene for several hours while cargo was unloaded from the damaged trailer and investigators documented evidence.
