Hollywood, MD (August 30, 2026) – A 66 year old woman was airlifted to a trauma center after a two vehicle collision in Hollywood Saturday morning that prompted a large emergency response.
According to the Maryland State Police, emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 11:15 a.m. on August 29 to the intersection of Tom Hodges Drive and Mervell Dean Road following reports of a two vehicle crash. Responding firefighters found one vehicle stopped in the roadway while a second vehicle had come to rest off the roadway.
Firefighters performed a rapid door removal to safely reach one of the occupants trapped inside a vehicle. Emergency medical personnel evaluated two people at the scene. A 66 year old woman sustained serious hip and shoulder injuries, prompting officials to request a medical helicopter.
The injured woman was transported by ambulance to the St. Mary’s County Regional Airport, where Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 arrived at approximately 12:10 p.m. She was then flown to UM Capital Region Medical Center for specialized treatment.
