Grimes County, TX (September 2, 2026) – A late-night multi-vehicle collision on State Highway 30 claimed the life of a 59-year-old driver and left two others injured Sunday in Grimes County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 11:17 p.m. on August 30 along State Highway 30 near Farm-to-Market Road 244. Authorities identified the victim as Charles Keil, 59.
Investigators reported that a pickup truck traveling westbound crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with a 1972 Dodge Polara driven by Keil. Following the initial impact, the Dodge was also struck by a motorcycle traveling westbound on State Highway 30.
Charles Keil sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to a Houston-area hospital for treatment. The motorcyclist was also transported to a hospital with injuries, although officials have not released the extent of those injuries.
