Philadelphia, PA (September 12, 2026) – Two women were injured Thursday evening in a pair of hit-and-run crashes in Center City that police believe involved the same black or dark-colored Mazda SUV.

Philadelphia police said the first September 10 crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at 16th Street and Arch Street. Moments later, police said the same Mazda collided with a Kia at 17th Street and Arch Street. Investigators reported that the Mazda struck the side of the Kia and then continued south on 17th Street.
The 59-year-old pedestrian suffered a broken leg and was transported to Jefferson Hospital. A 29-year-old woman driving the Kia was also taken to Jefferson Hospital with leg and hip pain. Both women are expected to survive.
Police said real-time crime cameras captured both crashes and the Mazda’s license plate. Investigators reported that the vehicle is registered to an address in South Philadelphia and said they were working to identify and locate the driver.
