Sedgwick County, KS (September 18, 2026) – One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 135 Friday evening in Sedgwick County. The collision occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. on September 17 on Interstate 135, about 2.9 miles south of K-15.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol , a 2021 GMC Acadia was traveling southbound in the right lane behind a 2020 Ford Escape. Investigators reported that the GMC was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass between the Ford Escape and another uninvolved vehicle. During the maneuver, the GMC struck the Ford Escape, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and enter the right ditch.
The 34-year-old female driver of the Ford Escape, Caitlyn Y. Ediger of Wichita, sustained suspected minor injuries. She was transported to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. The 35-year-old male driver of the GMC Acadia, Gregory J. Baker of Haysville, was reported to have no apparent injuries.
Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Tow Service Inc. The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision.
