Melrose, MN (June 14, 2025) – A devastating crash involving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix and a semi truck left two young women with life-threatening injuries on Wednesday afternoon west of Melrose.

According to reports, the crash took place shortly after 12 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 186 and Highway 4. The Grand Prix, driven by a woman from Melrose, was traveling west on County Road 186—where traffic is controlled by a stop sign—when it entered the intersection and was struck by a semi traveling south on Highway 4. The semi was operated by a 22-year-old man from Brownton.

The two passengers in the Grand Prix, both in their early 20s, suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to Sanford Health Fargo for emergency treatment. The driver of the car was transported to CentraCare – Sauk Centre with injuries that were not life-threatening. The semi truck driver was unharmed.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to provide aid, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
