Carroll County, MD (June 15, 2025) – Two drivers lost their lives in a violent three-vehicle crash Friday morning in Carroll County that prompted a prolonged road closure.

According to reports, the crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. on June 6 along Maryland Route 30, also known as the Hampstead Bypass. Maryland State Police said the driver of a Ford pickup truck veered into oncoming traffic in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a dump truck. The impact caused the dump truck to strike a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling behind it.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 25-year-old Nicholas Standiford of Pennsylvania, died at the scene along with the driver of the dump truck. Authorities have not yet released the dump truck driver’s name.

Route 30 was closed for approximately five hours as troopers conducted their investigation.
