St. Charles, MO (June 17, 2025) – A lane change attempt by two eastbound vehicles on Interstate 70 led to a crash that resulted in injuries to both drivers during Monday afternoon traffic.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 4:22 p.m. on June 16, just east of the TR Hughes Boulevard exit. A 2012 Kia Optima and a 2017 Honda Accord were traveling in separate lanes when both attempted to merge into the center lane simultaneously. The driver of the Kia swerved to avoid impact, began skidding, and ultimately struck the Honda. The impact caused both vehicles to slide into a concrete barrier.
The 19-year-old driver of the Kia from Troy, Missouri, and the 28-year-old driver of the Honda from Granite City, Illinois, both suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders transported the Kia driver to SSM St. Joseph West in Lake Saint Louis and the Honda driver to Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital.
