Las Vegas, NV (October 3, 2024) – A man was critically injured after being struck by an SUV near the Las Vegas Strip on Monday afternoon.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:38 p.m. at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and a private drive near Palace Station. A Chevrolet Suburban was making a left turn on a green light to head east on Sahara while a pedestrian was crossing Sahara “in or around” a marked crosswalk.
The SUV struck the pedestrian, a 64-year-old man from New York, knocking him to the ground. He was transported to UMC Trauma, where he remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Chevrolet stayed at the scene and assisted the injured pedestrian until emergency crews arrived. Authorities do not believe impairment played a role in the accident.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is continuing to investigate the incident.
