Chicago, IL (June 22, 2025) – A violent head-on crash involving two Dodge Challengers claimed the lives of three people and left another injured early Sunday morning on the city’s Far South Side.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 3:04 a.m. on June 22 in the 11200 block of South Stony Island Avenue. Police say the red and black Dodge Challengers were traveling toward each other on the same stretch of road when they collided head-on.
The driver of the red Challenger was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 20-year-old male passenger in that vehicle sustained injuries. Two occupants of the black Challenger — a male driver and a female passenger — also died at the scene. All three deceased individuals were pronounced dead by first responders. Their identities have not yet been released.
The Chicago Police Department is actively investigating the crash.
