News sources show that the incident took place on June 24 around 12:59 a.m. on U.S. Route 127 near milepost 17. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Dylan Eisel of West Unity was driving northbound with a 19-year-old passenger when their vehicle veered off the right side of the road. The vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned.
Tragically, neither Eisel nor the passenger was wearing a seatbelt, and both were ejected from the vehicle. Eisel was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger sustained critical injuries and was flown by air ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
