Gardner, MA (June 24, 2025) – A serious crash involving a utility bucket truck and a tractor-trailer sent a City of Gardner employee to the hospital with significant injuries on Monday afternoon.
According to reports, the crash occurred just after 2 p.m. on June 23 at the intersection of Elm Street and Temple Street. Emergency responders from Gardner Police, Gardner Fire, and the Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene.
Authorities confirmed that a utility worker identified as Darrell Sweeney fell from the bucket of the truck during the collision. He was treated at the scene and then transported by ambulance to Gardner Municipal Airport, where he was flown by Life Flight helicopter for further medical treatment.
