Veteran, NY (June 25, 2025) — A serious head-on collision in Chemung County Wednesday afternoon resulted in two people being hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to reports, New York State Police responded to the crash around 1:10 p.m. on State Route 13 in the Town of Veteran. A 40-year-old woman driving a 2016 Chevrolet Sedan northbound reportedly collided with a 35-year-old man in a 2024 Nissan Altima traveling south.
Emergency crews from multiple departments, including Horseheads, Town and Country, and Odessa Fire Departments, assisted in extricating victims from the vehicles. Both drivers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Robert Packer Hospital by ambulance. A LifeNet helicopter landed at the scene but departed without transporting a patient.
State Route 13 was temporarily closed as first responders managed the scene. The roadway has since reopened. The cause of the crash is under active investigation by New York State Police.
