Bossier Parish, LA (October 5, 2024) – A tragic bus accident in Bossier Parish on Friday afternoon claimed the life of one person. The accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. in Plain Dealing when a vehicle rear-ended a Bossier Parish school bus carrying 31 students. The school bus was stopped southbound on La. Highway 3 at Washington Street when the collision occurred.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the bus was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile from the vehicle and one student on the bus were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Bossier Parish deputies, along with BSO School Resource Officers, assisted in reuniting the remaining students with their parents and guardians, working closely with Bossier Schools administrators.
The identity of the bus driver has not been released, and the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
