Linden, NJ (October 5, 2024) – Two men tragically lost their lives in an overnight crash on Route 1 in Linden, marking the second fatal accident on this stretch of road in just over a day.
The crash occurred around 3 a.m. on Saturday when a sedan traveling northbound collided with a tractor-trailer making a left turn onto South Stiles Street from a southbound lane, according to a statement from Linden police. One passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second passenger and the driver were transported to Newark University Hospital. The second passenger later succumbed to their injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed in the crash.
Just a mile north on Route 1, another fatal crash occurred on Thursday night when a 19-year-old Brooklyn man died after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck near the Phillips 66 terminal entrance.
Both crashes are under investigation by the Linden Police Traffic Bureau.
