Terry Coyle Loses Life in Fatal Crash on Highway 227 in Stamping Ground

Stamping Ground, KY (October 6, 2024) – A fatal crash led to the closure of a Kentucky highway in both directions for nearly four hours on Wednesday, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). The accident occurred on Stamping Ground Road, KY State Highway 227, in the area of Viley Lane, around 10 a.m.

Authorities reported that a 2009 Freightliner dump truck was moving northbound on Stamping Ground Road when it veered off the roadway. The driver overcorrected, resulting in a collision with a 2004 Toyota Tacoma driven by 61-year-old Terry Coyle.

The Scott County Coroner arrived at the scene around 11 a.m. and pronounced Coyle dead.

The SCSO confirmed that the highway was closed for around four hours while deputies worked the scene. They also stated that drugs or alcohol were not considered factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.

Protecting Your Rights after a Fatal Car Accident

When a fatal car accident occurs, protecting your rights is essential for seeking justice and compensation for your loss. If the accident was caused by another driver’s negligence—such as overcorrecting, distracted driving, or reckless behavior—family members of the deceased may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim. This can help cover funeral costs, medical bills, lost wages, and emotional suffering.

It’s important to consult a wrongful death attorney as soon as possible. An experienced lawyer can investigate the accident, collect evidence, and negotiate with insurance companies to ensure you receive fair compensation. Acting quickly is crucial, as wrongful death claims have strict filing deadlines.

By protecting your rights, you can hold those responsible accountable and provide financial relief for your family during a challenging time, allowing you to focus on healing and recovery.
